Official Explanation

Statement 1

The mode incidence of recorded injuries is 4.3 per hundred employees (4.3%). Of the three industries that share that mode, the manufacturing industry has the most employees. The percentage of cases that affected work was 2.3%, more than half of recorded injuries.

The answer is Yes.

Statement 2

Because there are 17 industries listed, the one with the 9th highest incidence of injury resulting in days away from work is the median. Two industries share the median of 1.4. Of those two, the natural resources and mining sector has fewer employees. For that industry, out of every 4 cases, 2.2 affected work. This is more than half, so the answer is Yes.

The answer is Yes.

Statement 3

With 17 industries listed, the one with the 9th most people employed is the median, and this is other private sector services. The total number of reported injuries for that industry is 3.0%. Interestingly, for that row the values in the two furthest right columns (1 and 0.5) don't sum up to be the same as the value in the column detailing the number of cases affecting work (1.4). That's because the numbers in the two rightmost columns are rounded, as is indicated in the note in the paragraph of information about the table. Make sure to go by the value in the column listing the total number of cases affecting work. It's more accurate than adding the two individual columns, and it makes a difference in the answer as well. At 1.4, the percentage of cases affecting work would be less than 50% of the total of 3.0.

The answer is No.
