Solution:

1. The median number of hectares devoted to corn (in millions) was less than the median number of tons per hectare of corn
yield.Yes

The Median number of hectares devoted to corn is 4.89, which is less than the median number of tons per hectare of corn
yield that is 10.44.

2. The country or region that produced the greatest amount of wheat also produced the greatest amount of corn. No

The European Union produced the greatest amount of wheat, 5.59, and the greatest amount of corn was produced by the United States, 9.93

3. Every country or region that had one of the five greatest corn yields also had one of the five greatest wheat yields. No

The five greatest corn-yield countries are the United States, Canada, Argentina, the European Union, and Ukraine, whereas the five greatest wheat-yield countries are the European Union, China, Canada, Ukraine, and, United States.

The table shows, for 11 countries or regions, the amount of land devoted to the production of wheat and corn in one particular year. It also shows the amount of wheat and corn yielded per hectare of land devoted to the production of these crops.

Nepal0.770.912.482.52
For each of the following statements, select Yes if the statement can be shown to be true with the information provided. Otherwise, select No.

I'd like to point out a minor error here
"The European Union produced the greatest amount of wheat, 5.59, and the greatest amount of corn was produced by the United States, 9.93"

While the country European Union is correct the greatest amount isn't it should be 5.59 x 25.88 (area in hectors) same goes for corn. Fortunately both are not greatest for the same country

1. The question asks us to figure out whether the following statements are true or false.

2. The median number of hectares devoted to corn (in millions) was less than the median number of tons per hectare of corn yield. If we sort the values then the median will be 6th. For the number of hectares it is 4.83 and for the yield it is 6.02. 4.83 < 6.02. So, this statement is true.

3. The country or region that produced the greatest amount of wheat also produced the greatest amount of corn. Amounts can be calculated by multiplying area by yield, which can be estimated in order to easily compare them. The European Union produced the largest amount of wheat: \(25.88 * 5.59 \approx 144.7\). However, the United States produced the largest amount of corn: \(35.39 * 9.93 \approx 351.4\). So, this statement is false.

4. Every country or region that had one of the five greatest corn yields also had one of the five greatest wheat yields. Argentina is ranked 3rd for corn yields, however, it is ranked 7th for wheat yields. So, this statement is false.
