The table summarizes the results of a recent study conducted by a market research firm. Each study participant viewed product safety data presented in exactly one of four different formats for exactly one of six different products. For each product, the effectiveness of a given format is the percentage of participants who express willingness to purchase that product after viewing product safety data in that format. A format is optimal for a given product if that format has the greatest effectiveness among the four formats for that product.
Each of the following options is a description of exactly one of the four formats. For each option, select Describes paragraph format if the given information indicates that the description is true of the paragraph format. Otherwise, select Does not describe paragraph format.

2. Is optimal for the greatest number of products. The most optimal format is the one with the largest percentage in a row. Let's mark the optimal formats in each row:
We see that the table is optimal for the most products. So, this statement doesn't apply to the paragraph format.
3. Has the greatest range of effectiveness. Let's calculate the ranges: Bar graph = 34 - 8 = 26; Paragraph = 36 - 8 = 28; Scatterplot = 22 - 4 = 18; Table = 25 - 10 = 15. The paragraph format has the largest range. So, this statement does apply to the paragraph format.
4. Has the lowest median effectiveness. Let's calculate the medians: Bar graph = 24; Paragraph = 12.5; Scatterplot = 12; Table = 16. The scatterplot format has the lowest median. So, this statement doesn't apply to the paragraph format.

Bargraph has 134 products while the paragraph has only 113 products; hence, this statement does not describe paragraph format.
(II) Has the greatest range of effectiveness
Bar graph range: 34-8 = 26
Paragraph range: 36-8 = 28
Scatterplot: 22-4 = 18
Table: 25-10 = 15
Because the paragraph has the greatest range, this statement describes the paragraph format.
(III) Has the lowest median effectiveness
Paragraph median = (12+13)/2 = 12.5
Eyeballing other columns I realized that the median of the scatterplot will lie around 12.
Scatterplot median = (10+14)/2 = 12
It is neatly visible that the paragraph median is not the lowest; the scatterplot is a lower value than the paragraph.
Therefore, this statement does not describe paragraph format.
