A. $.90
B. $1.00
C. $1.20
D. $1.50
E. $1.60

\(100p + 200c = 5\)

So, \(20p + 40c = 1\) (Dividing by 5 ), Answer must be (B)

Let the cost of 1 paper plate be "\(x\)"

Let the cost of 1 paper cup be "\(y\)"

As per the question:

\(100x + 200y = 5\)

\(20x + 40y = 1\)

The total cost of 20 of the plates and 40 of the cups \(= 20x + 40y = 1\)

The correct answer is B

We can create the equation:

100p + 200c = 5

Dividing the equation by 5, we have

20p + 40c = 1

Answer: B

Hi,
How would we solve this question if it was asked to calculate the price at the same rate of 24 plates and 36 cups ?
Just that it wasnt a multiple of 5
