Please can someone explain how to choose between option A and option D? A quick take on why other options are incorrect would help as well. Thanks a lot!
Taking only these two answers:
Quote:
The Town and Country Club purchased, for its members, customised golf buggies and 20 sets of the best golf clubs, also organizing training sessions for them with leading professional golfers .
(A) buggies and 20 sets of the best golf clubs, also organizing training sessions for them with leading professional golfers
(D) buggies and 20 sets of the best golf clubs, in addition to organizing training sessions for them with leading professional golfers

So the split here is between 'also' and 'in addition to.'
I think the best way to think about this is by thinking structurally.
"They did this, also doing this." Vs. "They did this, in addition to doing this."
The first is structurally incorrect for a few reasons. The best way to analyze the chunk after the comma is that it is a modifier. What kind? Well, a comma--ing. These describe a SUBJ-VERB clause. But that doesn't make sense in this instance. The 'organizing training sessions' is another thing the club did, it doesn't *describe* how they bought clubs for their members.
Think of these two sentences:
"This morning, he did twenty push-ups, also running a three mile jog."
"This morning, he did twenty push-ups, in addition to running a three mile jog."
He didn't jog *while doing* push-ups.
