Can someone explain why D & E are wrong ?

There is no denial that Richard was a great human being.

A) no denying that Richard was Correct.
B) no deny that Richard was The "no" is used to state the absence of, or zero number of, something. Hence it should be followed by a noun or a gerund only. "Deny" is a verb.
C) no denial Richard was The word "no denial" is followed by the object ie; whatever is not being denied. Hence, the correct idiomatic usage would be "no denial of".
D) no denial that Richard is The word "no denial" is followed by the object ie; whatever is not being denied. Hence, the correct idiomatic usage would be "no denial of".
E) no denial that Richard was The word "no denial" is followed by the object ie; whatever is not being denied. Hence, the correct idiomatic usage would be "no denial of".

I thought option A should be the same as the original sentence?

But the original sentence is:There is no denial that Richard was a great human being.
Option A is: There is no denying that Richard was a great human being.
