Ok, so two years ago I took the GMAT, and since I had only 3 weeks to prepare, I got a score of 550 pcts (39 quant 27 verbal), which was enough for me at that moment.
Now I intend to apply for a master program, and I need to score above 600 pcts, but ideally would be above 700.
I just did the diagnostic test from OG 13, and got:
PS - 14 Average
DS - 20 Above Average
RC - 10 Average
CR - 9 Above Average
SC - 11 Above Average
Is this a good start?
I struggle sometimes solving problems that require more than just applying formulas, oh and I just hate combinatorics & probability problems. Moreover, years have passed since I last time reviewed English language grammar, and structures that are being tested by GMAT. And since I am a non-native speaker, I sometimes encounter difficulties understanding texts & answering RC & CR questions. Although I live in the US now, it is a terrible place to practice English language, since most of the people do not speak correctly from the grammatical point of view...
Are there any suggestions on how to improve my verbal section score?
I have ~4 months to prepare...

It is important to have a competitive GMAT score. In order to improve your verbal section, we recommend e-gmat.com, which is designed especially for non-native English speakers. For easy to understand math concepts you can look at magoosh.com. They have quant alone packages.
In addition to GMAT, it is important to plan on additional areas of your recommendation, like your story, essays, recommendation, and resume. For these, you need to work months ahead of application.

As for Verbal I would begin by working on grammar basics. Do not movie on until you have them mastered or else it will negatively impact the rest of your verbal score. I would recommend "English Grammar in Use" (intermediate and advanced levels).
Please be aware that almost all grammar books tend to be exercise-oriented and often go into much more detail than what the GMAT tests. In addition, many grammar books do not deal with certain sentence structure issues (e.g. dangling modifiers). You need to cross-reference what is on the GMAT with the book you get. But "Grammar in Use" is probably the best grammar self-study book available. While our course will teach the relevant grammar theory and give you plenty of practice in everything you would need for the GMAT, if you choose to use an outside grammar book, this cannot hurt. Please remember that in order to beat the Sentence Correction section, you need to know the grammar and the techniques. If you have any other questions just ask.
