I have been visiting this forum from quite a while, but never posted anything. But I think its high time for me to get some help and expert opinions.
Here is my background.
Engineer with 15 years of experience. Thinking of doing part time MBA.
Need score above 610-620.
I started preparing for the Exam in
Feb'04 with Kaplan. And had to take the test in March because of admission deadlines.
Scored 490 ( Q 39; V 21). Was shocked. Then scheduled another test for
May'04. Started preparing using with PR,Kaplan. Didn't know about OG & this GMAT club. Just wanted to improve my Verbal so I focussed on that.
Scored 530 ( Q 41; V 22 ).
So this was all 2 years back. When I look at it I was destined to fail, because I didn't had any good study plan & also didn't use OG.
Because of personal reasons had to drop the idea of starting part time MBA for atleast a year.
With the previous 2 bad experiences in GMAT test I thought it would be good to join a Kaplan class (Nov'05- Jan'06). Did follow it sincerely with assignments & test.
Here are my kaplan scores
Kap 1 : 590
Kap 2 : 610
Kap 3 : 580
Kap 4 : 610
Kap 5 : 600
Kap 6 : 610
I was consistently getting verbal score around 30-33. So I thought I have mastered the verbal atleast to get the score above my previous verbal score of 22.
I also did OG to some extent. And got 600 & 650 in PP1 & PP2.
So I thought I am set to take the test again.
Last saturday I took the test and scored 530 (Q42; V 22). I couldn't believe it because all through the test I felt that I am doing good. But that's the thing you should be worried about..
When you think every thing is easy that means the computer has decided that you are at some average level. The GMAT really tries to trick you & I fell for it all the 3 times.
So I think it is very very important to get first 10 questions right at any cost ( I know that every body knows about this ). I didn't pace myself with giving more time to first 10 questions.
In Verbal I did get one bold face CR and I thought that it is good indication that I am doing good, but at the same time I was getting very easy to understand RC paragraphs each with 35-40 lines.
Is there any way to figure out from questions that you are at the average level or not ?
I want to give a last try before giving up. So would need your suggestion/opinions while I am coming up with my study plan.
Thanks
