Just saw the below on BW. I'm really wondering if these things have any impact on admissions processes or selectivity.
Dear students (and recent graduates),
It is with a sense of loss that I am writing to announce that ThomasCaleel (WG'03) will be vacating his role as Director of Admissions andFinancial Aid effective June 30, 2008. We in the Graduate Divisionare enormously grateful to have had Thomas serve the School in this important role for the last three years and are very proud of our admissions and global outreach efforts under his leadership.
The search for Thomas's successor has begun. We have retained a search firm to cast a wide net in search of potential candidates. A search committee, consisting of faculty, administrators, and a student, and chaired by Prof. Peggy Bishop Lane, will evaluate a short list of such candidates and recommend 2-3 candidates to Dean Robertson, Deputy Dean Gibbons, and me for the final decision. I encourage you to think of potential candidates; please direct your recommendations to Paula Greenberg.
As many of you know from your personal interaction with him, Thomas
has been an articulate and passionate ambassador of the School and the
MBA Program. He has been indefatigable, travelling to dozens of
countries each year, reaching out to alumni, corporations, and
universities around the world, and speaking to large audiences, with
the credibility of personal experience, about the textured richness of
our student experience.
I close by sharing with you the following thoughts from Thomas himself:
"It has been my privilege to serve the Wharton School for the past
three years as the Director of MBA Admissions and Financial Aid.
During this time, I have been fortunate to interact with my fellow
alumni, work side-by-side with our exceptional faculty and staff, meet
thousands of extraordinary applicants, and know the best and brightest
students from around the world. This has been a humbling and
rewarding journey, and I am proud of what we have accomplished
together. Therefore it is with no small measure of sadness that I announce my
resignation. I have now spent nearly ten years of my life at Penn,
first as an undergraduate, then as an MBA student, and now as part of
the Graduate Division. But it is time for me to take the next step in
my life and career, and while this is farewell for now, it is
certainly not goodbye. I intend to remain active in the Wharton
alumni community for years to come, and to continue my service to the
University, albeit in a different fashion. My immediate plan is to
take several months off to spend time with my new family, then
re-enter the private sector again this fall. While my background is
primarily in entrepreneurship and private equity, I look forward to
using this sabbatical to think carefully about my next venture, and to
enjoying the freedom of being able to carefully evaluate several
compelling opportunities."

Saw that on BW...not surprising. If you ever read the guys bio its way too impressive to be an adcom. Thats the domain of opera singers and such not Wharton MBAs from Private equity. His resume is in the wharton resume book thats floating around on here.
