My answer is (B). It took me 01:41.
The meaning of the sentence is a bit strange:
much-loathed high-end coffee shop is still considered a symbol of “the new consumerism” by many who have never heard the phrase.
If those people have never heard the phrase, how can they consider the coffee shop the embodiment of such phrase?
(AC) Pronoun "they" does not agree with "coffee shop".
Or: there is no precedent for "they"
(D) "they" in "they are found in cities" refers to many who have never heard the phrase.
(E) Not a sentence.
