Received Phone Call for Acceptance: 10/28 (on my birthday!)
Mary Miller called at 8AM my time (9AM EST) and congratulated me (caller ID said UNKNOWN). Later on, I found out that my decision was already rendered a week earlier but they were waiting to give it to me on my birthday. I thought that was pretty cool. The call was on a Friday and right before Halloween... so yeah, best birthday AND Halloween ever!
Looking at everyone's comments, it seems that people are over gaming this system and trying to find a pattern. I honestly think it's all up in the air and that the dates they propose on the website just covers possible notification mishaps (i.e. someone's application gets lost in the shuffle yet they receive a decision still within the "set" timeframe). Obviously, hindsight 20/20 on this one. However, I've heard rumors before that they like to give decisions out on Friday since it coincides perfectly with the weekend. With that said, I wish everyone good luck tomorrow.
Btw, if my decision was rendered a week before 10/28, than that means my entire process took around three weeks from start to finish. I just want to tell you that there's really nothing spectacular about me (28 yr old male Asian). I didn't even break 700 on the GMAT. This reemphasizes the point that Adcoms truly look beyond metrics (should give those who have low GMAT scores a bit of hope). However, I do think I wrote some awesome essays
