A. gladly do so as soon
seems good

B. gladly do so as
"as as all the data was in."..two as? incorrect

C. gladly do so soon
in original sentence it means john is still waiting for the data while in this sentence data is already in and john hasn't worked on it yet. changes the meaning .incorrect

D. gladly do it as soon
it can only refer back to report . so replace it with report ,we get "gladly do report as soon" makes no sense.

E. be glad to do so as soon
changes the meaning. gladly do the work vs would be glad to do so

do it, refers to an object, and do so, is refer to an action, because the boss asked him to prepare a report, is based on an action, so eliminate D.
B duplicate "as" so eliminate.
the correct idiom is as soon as, eliminate C

glad refers to the way an action is made, so the correct way is to use an adverb because modify an action(verb).

This answer choice is grammatically incorrect. A pronoun (in this case, it) refers to a previously mentioned noun. If we wish to refer to a previously mentioned verb, we need to use the phrase to do so or doing so.

What helps us identify this question as a pronoun question is the following Stop Sign:

Incorrect.

While this answer choice is grammatically correct, it is stylistically flawed - redundant - as a result of replacing the single word gladly with the three-word phrase be glad to.
