remove three right triangles

(3*1)/2 = 1.5

(1*1)/2 = 0.5

(2*2)/2 = 2

Area = 2

Here are my notes from solving:
1) The triangle is a right triangle. Slope is 1 & -1 so the intersection is right.

Solve for the hypotenuse of a new right triangle with side x = 0; point 0,0 & 1,1 & 0,1.
hypot = sqrt(2). This is the height of the triangle we are trying to solve.

Solve for the hypotenuse of another new right triangle with side x = 0.
hypot = sqrt(8).

so 1/2(sqrt(8))*(sqrt(2) = 2
