I gave a mock test today to get a sense of where I stand and caught on the wrong side.
I was running out of time in Both the quant and verbal sections.
I have one query, would be great if you guys can clear it.
During the quant section, I could see I was running out of time and started pressing the panic button from 31st question..so just answered them for the sake of answering and could finish only upto 34 questions.
The review of the quant section showed that I did not attempt 3 questions and answered 13 incorrect.(question# 31 to 34 were incorrect)
It gave me a score of 44 in quant.
During the verbal section, I decided I will complete the section at any cost. I saw myself running out of time around the same 31st/32nd questions and started choosing the options just for the sake of answering. I completed all the 41 questions here.
The review of the verbal section showed that I answered 18 incorrect., but had attempted all 41.(question#31 to 41# were incorrect largely, sparing one or two lucky picks)
It gave me a verbal score of 27
Now my query is :
Which strategy should one use if he/she is running out of time ?
1. Answer all the questions..just choose random answers..so as not to have the time penalty.
2. Leave some questions unanswered, but answer the maximum questions correctly.

Regarding the scoring for this competitive exam, is there a tool or graph one can take ideas from?
I remember hearing once for the GRE on how computer based tests rate the candidate on answering every question.
Say for instance, 1st question is of 500 level. if you get right you get a 550 level question,else you get a 450 level question.
Let me know if there is a theory behind this scoring pattern
