Hi Maxsparrow,

To answer your immediate question: NO - the amount of time that you take to answer an individual GMAT question is NOT a factor in determining how many points you gain/lose after submitting your answer. Obviously, your pacing (and how you choose to spend your time in each section) will impact your overall performance and results, but it does not sound as though that was what you were asking about.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) Is the 640/Q49/V27 you referenced from an Official GMAT attempt or from a CAT/mock?
2) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Maxsparrow,

It does not. Regarding how to improve your GMAT verbal skills, here is a great article you can check out:

Thanks to all the experts replying to my questions. Honestly I feel like I am a little bit slow in the Quant, that is why I suspect if time/question matters for scoring, thank God it is not.

To Scott:

Studies:
1) Is the 640/Q49/V27 you referenced from an Official GMAT attempt or from a CAT/mock?
640/Q49/V27 Official GMAT, 3 months earlier I took official Mock and scored 640/Q49/V28
2) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
For the last 3 months, 10 hours a week, sometimes even less than that as my job is travelling extensive
3) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
So far only official guide 2019 and manhattan prep App. The app helps a lot to let me practice even though I cannot sit well with a pen and paper
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
640/Q49/V27 Official GMAT, 3 months earlier I took official Mock 640/Q49/V28

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
I aim for 750-770
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?
Stanford GSB

It is an eye-opening moment when 3 months has passed and my score is still the same. I will not be able to achieve anything if things stay the same.
Currently I have dropped most of my business travel and focused on the preparation. Looking forward to the guidance of the experts here

Hi Maxsparrow,

Since you are interested in at least one highly-competitive School, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

I've also sent you a PM with some notes and additional questions.
