depends on if you're early on in the section or in the later parts of the section.
early - take more time - can allow yourself to use more time if you know you'll likely be able to make it up
later - use POE and guess as needed without spending too much time - you won't have as many chances to make up for lost time
I agree with this. On many of my practice tests, I would have to guess on the last 2 or 3 quant questions if I spent a little bit extra on the first questions. And still pulled a 49-Q (I ended up guessing on the last couple on my actual GMAT too).
As for timing:
All quant questions, I would give about 2 minutes
SC - 1 minute
CR - 1.75 to 2 minutes
RC - 3.5 to read the section, then 1.25 per question
So my timing was pretty standard, nothing special.
