As somebody who's facing a similar struggle, I would really say that the best way is to optimize whatever time we have and plan things ahead. For example, you already have an idea about your next day's schedule and you can easily schedule small pockets of study time wherever possible.

The most difficult thing for working professionals like us is that we struggle to find large slots of time for dedicated preparation and if we keep waiting for such occasions, our preparation may never take off. Rather, I have found that it's more useful to find gaps between larger chunks of work, whether it be eating meals, commuting, or just breaks between work, to streamline my preparation.
