Hi tndvekas760,

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied in total? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) Are you planning to take the At-home GMAT or are you planning to take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi tndvekas760,

640 is not a bad start! Out of curiosity, do you plan to take any more official GMAC practice exams?

Regarding things you can do (besides taking practice exams) over the next 18 days, you may find it helpful to engage in focused practice of each individual quant and verbal topic. For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc. As you do such practice, do a thorough analysis of each question that you don't get right. If you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question? By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to efficiently fix your weaknesses and in turn improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant and verbal topics.

Lastly, you may find it helpful to read the following article:

GMAT Test Day approaching?

Hi Everyone,
I have registered for the exam, March 21 is the day. I took Manhattan Free Cat 4 days back and got he score of 640 (Q44 and V34). I want to push it to touch 700 (Q49, V36/37) at least. I have many(I guess more than 45%) OG questions left to practice. Can you please provide some suggestion to improve my score. Please take your time to view my CAT analysis and please suggest some strategy for these days.

For Verbal:
1. RC: I had got 1 Short and 3 Long passages(as said by GMAT Club tag) which took me 29:10 mins to complete.
Overall Accuracy= 67%, 500-600= 100%600-700= 67%, 700-800= 57%
On RC, I have problem with long passages (ones with 3 or more paragraphs), they eat up my time, and creates panic within me in the middle of the test. When I try the strategy suggested by RON, I tend to spend lots of time on Detail questions (inference, except, specific purpose etc). Searching for the keywords in passages take time. Also, shall I expect to see 3 long passages in GAMT Exam? Please provide a strategy to solve both Short and Long Passages!!

2. SC: Timing on SC was good. But I mistook last 2 SCs, which I could do easily if they were not asked in test, due to rush cause by RC time consumption.
Overall Accuracy = 50%, 600-700= 50%, 600-700= 50%
On, SC, in almost every wrong questions, there was the issue which I already knew about, but could not think about during the test. So would you suggest me to practice more from remaining OG questions for this, or is there any other strategy? Please Suggest!! I got 3, 600-700 level questions incorrect.

3. CR: I am good at CR. I have very bad accuracy in Evaluate and Inference questions. Please provide some tips on this.

Overall, in Verbal Section, I always panic during the test for timing issue. I get frightened when I see an RC passage. Further, In the recent CAT, I was feeling hard to read the the questions. As I take Quant first and then verbal, so, I am afraid if this is because of fatigue? Please provide your valuable tips and help me push my verbal score to V36/37.

For Quant:
I want to push my quant score from Q44 to Q49 at least. I made 4 mistake in 600-700 level (2PS, 2DS), and reason was careless errors and calculation errors. I have 50% accuracy in 700-800 level PS and only 38% accuracy in 700-800 level DS. ( I feel very uncomfortable with Inequalities questions with Absolute Values, and the DS Inequalities questions with negatives positives}. Further, I mistook 3 comb. and probability questions and most of the geometry questions, due to concept gap. I will revisit them. So, please provide any suggestion other than this to improve my quant score to Q49. Thank You. (And, if you would like to see my CAT result and analysis, I will share my free trial id. )

Thank You!!!

I personally took a lot of timed quizzes during the last stage of my preparation. I used to spend a lot of time analyzing the solutions of the questions I solved. That way I used to understand where I made a mistake and eventually learn the right approach. Do not give too many mocks. Instead focus on working on your weak areas. All the best!!
