Correct answer: C

To regard... is to understand
So, A,D,E - are wrong.
Between B and C
We use great forces of nature. So, B is also wrong.

To regard the overwhelming beauty of the Mojave Desert is understanding the great forces of nature that shape our plant.

A. understanding the great forces of

B. to understand the great forces to

C. to understand the great forces of

D. understanding the greatest forces in

E. understanding the greater forces on

-- A, D, E are out as "understanding" - ing form is not the correct structure here, We need "to understand"
-- B/w b and c - "great forces of nature is correct.
C is the correct answer.
