Hi All,

For anyone who's interested in the 'backstory', the following links map it out.

With the two-test "plan", you'd have to take the first GMAT in early October. Given your recent Official Score, and your score goal, the 2-3 weeks of study time that you would have are probably not going to be enough for you to hit your goal score in early October. While you can still take the GMAT at that time, you would almost certainly be taking it again at the end of October. So this ultimately comes down to the expense - do you want to pay the extra $250?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Considering what's on the line, I feel comfortable taking an additional $250 hit if it helps me in any way.

I recently took the GMAT on September 19th, and have till the end of October to retake it. I have a conditional offer, pending gmat score.

Question is do I retake twice or retake once?
Two retakes:
Pros:
- If I don't like first of the two, I have the opportunity to retake.
- More experience in taking the actual exam.

Cons:
- Shorter study time in between

One Retake:
Pro:
- A lot more time to study, which may lead to a better score.

Con:
- It's my last shot.

Please chime in. Thanks in advance. Sorry for the lack of organization - I'm entering this post through the app on my phone

It is always good to give your best shot.
You say that if you retake the GMAT once, this may lead to a better score and actually this should.
You will get more time to study the fundamentals and more time to apply them

You can get a very near to actual GMAT experience by attempting the CAT in similar conditions.

All the best!

Thanks. After taking the actual exam, I now know the test environment to which I could replicate it to the best of my abilities. I'm going to take another CAT this weekend, and see how I feel then go from there.

Good luck with the studies.

We are in the camp of ---if you are going to sit through a test -- do it right the first time. Have a backup plan, but don't prepare with the backup plan of taking it multiple times before you even do it the first time.

That sense of urgency that you would have is important. You should do the first test AS IF -- you won't have a backup plan. Only have you don't do well should you consider your backup plan.
