Not very clear language, but if your question involves applying 20% discount on an article which is already 30% discounted, we're talking about applying a total of 30 + (100-30)x20/100 = 44% discount.
This of course is not even in the list of answers. Can you please explain the question again?

(0.8 - 0.7) / 0.8 = 12.5%

Oh you calculated on the basis of total discount being 30%, and one discount being 20%, what was the other discount???
So after 20% discount, 0.8 (1-x) = 0.7
=> 1-x = .7/.8 = 0.875 => x = .125 = 12.5%????
I didn't get the very simplistic calculation that you did. Tell me the secret
