Today's Off-Topic Post -

Save the Auto Industry?

What does everyone think about the proposed bail-out? Good? Bad? Needed? Let them burn?

Seems a strong public and corporate sentiment is swinging towards letting them file for Chapter 11. Since I think this will make an excellent case study for future business school students, what do the current applicants and current students think of the situation?

There was a great article in the WSJ last weekend. One of the professors (David Yermack) from NYU Stern wrote it and basically said let them fail.

Found it! WSJ
Quote:
Yet one can only imagine how the $465 billion could have been used better -- for instance, GM and Ford could have closed their own facilities and acquired all of the shares of Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Volkswagen.
