Hello,
I want to give TOEFL in Dec 2011 in Mumbai, India (or any place close by). However when I check for the list of available dates I don't see any date before 14th Jan, 2012.
What I wanted to know is can there be by any chance that I contact the TOEFL shows up a date when someone cancels his/her test?
Is there any other way so that I contact the test center, and they inform me when any slot is available?
Could it be possible that I book for a later date now and if a slot gets vacant, I change the date?
Please advise.

Hi,
i dont think you will get any assistance in automatic updates from ETS-TOEFL, when the dates/slots are available.
Moreover if u mail them u will receive a reply in at least 3-4 days minimum.
Also if you book a date in advance and then try to change it on basis of availability you will end up loosing money.
I regularly visit TOEFL site and there are very rare chances of seats getting available unless the TOEFL comes up with new slots.Very few people change dates.
All i can suggest is to book a date if u find it 20-25 in advance to your application deadlines..
try some nearby states to mumbai(its hard to find a date in mumbai).

Now, I couldn't find slots till Jan 14th (in available search dates for TOEFL registration) in Mumbai.
I have booked TOEFL on Jan 8th in Pune (Latest available at the time of my booking).
However I don't know if how many deadlines I would be missing for applying in various B-Schools by the time the TOEFL results come in.
