Hi [email protected],

I'd like to know a bit more about how you've been studying:

1) You say that you've been studying for 2 months, but what does that really mean? How many hours do you study during a typical week? Have you been studying non-stop for 2 months or were there periods in which you did no studying?

2) What resources have you been using during your studies? You mentioned a Professor, so are you taking a Class of some kind?

3) You mention how Geometry is the only subject that you've practiced thoroughly. How is that possible if you've been studying for 2 months? There are several 'categories' of math that show up in the Quant section more often than Geometry, so why haven't you focused on the larger categories (since they're worth more to your overall score)?

I'd also like to know a bit more about your timeline/goals:
What is your goal score?
When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Hi [email protected],

Before anyone can offer any practical advice about your situation, you'll need to provide more information than you have:

1) What materials have you been using during your studies? It sounds like you've taken a Class, but what class? Have you been using books? Working online?

2) You mentioned how you were going to leave your job next month. Are you going to be away from your job through August (when you plan to take the GMAT)? What materials do you plan to work on during this time off from work?

3) What is your score goal?

That kind of improvement is definitely possible, but it's a long road. I tutored a student who started with a practice exam of 340 and he just submitted his applications with a 680. He was very weak in math, so he actually a few months off from GMAT study to take some basic math courses from the local college to improve his math capabilities. After that he spent about 8-9 months studying GMAT topics, starting with very basic foundational concepts. He took the GMAT 3 times before he hit his target score. He was going to school and doing some work during his preparation, so he wasn't studying 100% of the time, but he did spend a lot of time each week preparing for the exam.

So, realize that the journey is long, and you have to start from the very basic levels, but you can make that kind of leap if you are committed.

Hello Devash, indeed from a 340 to a 700 would mean more than doubling the score. As Kyle mentions, this is just a phenomenal jump that you are looking at.

So, for the next 1 year or so, just focus totally on GMAT and as you rightly have pointed out, address topics one by one. Long way to go, but I am sure you would be able to accomplish it, if you have the determination.

All the best, and do keep us informed of your progress.
