Hey guys,
Took the GMAT today and scored a 690 (Q50/V31), here's my question.
So what actually confuses me is that according to a grading table here on GMATCLUB, my score should be a 680? So I am confused, can my score still "drop" to a 680?
Also, I don't know if I'm satisfied, is 690 a competitive score? Considering I have 5 years of work-ex, with a graduation degree from IIT, and lots of extra curricular also I've been a startup founder(Did not do very well, but we tried!!).
Should i consider re writing Gmat or should I focus on my application?

You GMAT total score isn't based directly on your section scores. Rather, your section scores and you total score are based directly on your performance on the quant and verbal questions.
Meanwhile, there can be a range of underlying performance associated with a set of section scores. So, the same set of section scores can usually be associated with three different total scores, such as the total score you see in a score chart along with the total scores 10 points above and below the one that you see in the score chart.
So, regarding your 690, 690 can be associated with your section scores, and the probability that your total score will decrease to 680 is basically zero.
Regarding whether 690 is a competitive score, the answer to your question depends on the which schools you plan to apply to. For top schools with 730+ average GMAT scores, 690 is a little on the low side. For schools with lower averages, 690 is a great score.

First off, a 690/Q50 is a fantastic Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Obviously, Schools consider your ENTIRE profile, so no GMAT Score (not even an 800) will ever 'guarantee' you an invitation. This is meant to say that you you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

If you do choose to retest, then we should discuss your prior studies in more detail; in the meantime, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on your timeline and your goals:
1) What Schools are you planning to apply to and when are you planning to apply?

3) If you do decide to retest, how many hours do you think you could consistently commit to your studies each week?
