Toefl this morning

Hello everyone,

I did the TOEFL this morning. I will tell you some tips and How it went.
 
The Toefl was at 8 am but you need to come half an hour before. The room was very small and I forgot to take my ear plug. 
Then it begins....

Reading: 3 texts, The first I took 5mn to find the first two questions because everybody shouted: DESCRIBE THE CITY YOU LIVE IN...
I lost 5 minutes to concentrate. I did all the questions of the first text but I think I made some mistakes...
the text 2 and 3 pretty easy just like in the Barrons or ETS OG book, just some vocabulary words were a bit confusing.
Stay focus, do not panic if you are not sure of a question you can go back.

Listening: I had 9 conversation , 6 classes and 3 conversation between a teacher and a student
Same as I did when I practiced the TOEFL with the ETS Official test... 
TAKE NOTES I took notes and most of the time i didn't look at them but for maybe 
3 or 5 questions they saved me.

Speaking: THANKS FOR THE TEMPLATE. Learn them by heart you have time to write them down before. 
The question 5 and 6 you have lot of things to say so be careful of the time.

Writing: again learn the template. It is the same... The article states something then a professor contradicts it.I wrote about 300 words
About the issue try to find some nice examples.... I wrote 321 words.

I did 3 toefl tests last week and l learn two template.
Practice reading in front of a computer, and stay focus because sometimes it is boring to hear about how the Panda in China are threaten by the bird Xanumouchi.

Results the 19 november.....

Hello guys,

I am very disappointed. I just got my score from my IBT TOEFL and I got 91/120.

reading: 21/30
listening : 28/30
speaking : 18/30
writing : 24/30

About the reading I can understand, I rushed the first text and that's why I lost points.
But about the speaking i do not understand at all. I used the templates, I have been in the US for 3 months, I go to University there.

I think I will use the forum, to speak with someone else who did the TOEFL and maybe explain me why did I have such a low grade.
If somebody wants don't hesitate.

Hi etienneb,

I suggest you to take some time to relax and then start again the preparation. Think about reading magazines (for example, I read The Economist that contains a lot of TOEFL vocabulary and similar topics), watch movies in English and use this forum to speak with people.

You can retake TOEFL as many times as you want. Don't give up!

Hey guys,

I just had my second result of my second attempt of my TOEFL.

I got 102/120.

I am really happy, after my 91/120 one month ago I was a bit sad about it and I didn't really feel to do it again.

After the first attempt I rethink all my study:

reading: 25/30
read a lot of articles, try to do the GMAT before because the text are way harder than in the TOEFL.

listenning: 27/30
I didn't have really any issue. Just take some notes.

Speaking: 23/30
Use the templates on the forum BUT try to change it on your own way.
One important thing is to say very quickly your position then to explain.
Do not try to spend lot of time with something such as '' I would have to say that X whereas there are good arguments the be made for chossing Y...''
Unlike you speak very fast, try to be as clear as possible '' I agree that ... because...''
Easier is better.
One other thing is to be careful of the time, 45s/60s goes very quick.

Writing:27/30
write as much words as you can. 
i wrote 360 words and 480 words.
but pay attention to the grammar.

work hard pays.

Now I have to do the GMAT.

Also i have a question my school requires TOEFL: minimum 100; should I try to do again the TOEFL to have a better score is 104 or 105 will give me more chance to get into my master's program ?
