I have gone through with the various admission profiles, and they all mention the need to have extra-curricular activities. These activities are required to make your profile unique, stand-out from the crowd, inspire the admission council towards your interests and passion. My question is: is this that much important? If any person who is working in an organization, and wishes to do MBA to further his career prospects and enhance his role within the same or new organization, will that kind of profile not find favor with the board? And if indeed such extra-curricular or social activities are indeed required, then will taking up such activities before preparing for the exam be counted as negative and only meant to influence the board?
Can somebody give me a statistic of the number of people applying to a premier b-school having this many number of students being involved in such activities. Will the chances of a guy having few such activities to show for his profile have less than ideal chances of making it past the admission council?
