Hello All,

I have just started to prepare for GMAT.
I want to apply for USA B schools for the fall 2011, so i wanted to know when does the application process starts for the same.

Also i wanted to know that by latest when i should take the GMAT so that i can apply for fall 2011 without any glitches.

Thanks,
Aakash

You should take GMAT latest by late August - early September to apply in Round 1. Depending on how many schools you want to apply to, you will need time to write the essays. Writing quality essays for one school takes anything from 1 to 3 weeks (depending on whether you have sorted out your story). Split the schools you want to apply to into two groups - Round 1 and Round 2. Once their applications are out, read their questions and start making a rough outline of answers. Take GMAT as soon as you get comfortable.

Dear karishma
i have appeared for GMAT on 28th march got a 600 with Q 48 & V 24... :( :(
please read my test experience (Link given below)

I think you will need to check up each college's deadline but ISB's round 1 closes on 30th Aug and IIMA PGPX on 10th Aug (from what I remember reading... make sure you check each deadline). So plan to take GMAT latest by mid-July. Make sure you have at least 20 days after GMAT to get your Essay score, send your official score through Pearson website, work out any kinks in the process etc.
Your Verbal certainly needs work. Put concentrated effort at this time. CR is the easiest to improve (in my opinion) since it is based on logic. In SC, they focus on some error types e.g. Subject-Verb agreement errors, Tenses errors, Pronoun errors etc. Learn to actively look for them. RC is mainly practice and understanding the type of questions they ask.

@ akashhongal : You should aim to target either round 1 or 2 (latest). Round 3 and 4 get too competitive and getting scholarship opportunities decrease as you delay your application.

Ideally you should also target the GMAT score, as soon as you hit your target in mock tests you can take the test. It doesnt make sense to apply in Round 1 with poor GMAT score and its not good enough to apply in Round 4 with excellent GMAT score ( for your overall application). Hence you got to balance out both of these aspects.

@ akashhongal- Manhattan SC for SC, Powerscore critical reasoning bible for CR are the best apart from OGs. It will really help if you improve your concentration while reading ( also the non Gmat books)
