The first message means a pre-cursor to an interview, and the second means they've decided to ding you already.
Either that or the first message means they've decided to ding you, and the second is a precursor to an interview.
Either that, or they both mean we're under review.
I'm just going to check out and wait. Everything else at this stage is pure speculation and conjecture. It's like reading too much into a text message when you're chasing down a certain love interest.

Hi all. Had my interview on Monday. It went well, wasn't too stressful. I am from the Bay Area, did it locally up here. I was matched with someone who went to UCLA undergrad, worked for 5 years and then went back to UCLA, an alum from class of 99 Anderson. That matches my pace, but none of our past and future careers matched up. She was very nice, and asked very directed questions to school fit it seemed. What my career goals are, what I have achieved, how I have worked, and what I hope to gain from the MBA schools I am applying for. Failure and Accomplishment question. It ended up being an hour and a half just chatting about the school and what it has to offer. I never got the impression that the interview was the key to me getting in or getting rejected.
My status on the site is now:
" Submission Status: Submitted
Submitted Date: 10/26/2011 2:52:00 AM EST
We reviewed your application with interest and would like to learn more with a personal interview. Please watch your email for our updates."
It probably won't change until they process the interview report from the Alum is my guess. Then I assume I will have to wait until Jan 26 to learn anything about my status. Good luck everyone!
