Could someone be kind enough to explain me, why answer C is wrong. Additionally, could you explain the important differences between answer B and C.
IMO C should be correct because is explaining why the boss is angry. Am I missing something else?

C has a changed meaning, it doesn't explains whit who the boss is angry. The "himself" has the function to highlight that the boss did the audit by himself.

Answer is B...

explanation is as below...

BOSS is angry ?

so that somebody would explain by WITH HIMSELF...so this is correct...so the answers are split by BE and ACD...so we cancel ACD options...

seeing B it ends with AN HOUR but E with A HOUR...normally AN HOUR is correct hence we select the option B...

guys please correct me if i am wrong with my explanation

What kind of question is this? GMAT doesn't test on spelling mistakes. Please post some good source questions. Answer choice D is an insult to hardcore GMATTers :wink:

In option B and Option D the only difference is spelling , or synonym of himself,...

definatly not going to be on the test.

Option B is correct though.
