Don't quit. You can improve greatly, but you just need to be willing to put in a ton of work. There should be a direct correlation between time spent and score improvement. While that's not always the case, if you put in the time, you will get better.

First test taken, and with no prep at all? That's like deciding you want to get good at basketball, going into your basement to find a ball, seeing that it needs some air in it, and then quitting. No way you should quit before you get started

The GMAT measures your ability to prepare, adapt, and perform under pressure. It's not an easy task, and like the real world, more exposure to these situations may help us improve. Don't let a bad score upset you. At the same time, you're not meant for business school if you're a quitter. Remain competitive and use this forum and its members to help aid you in your studies. While I haven't put together my MBA application yet, I have a lot of real world experience with process-focused management. I'll be more than happy to chat iwth you privately anytime; just let us know how we can help.

That means this is a diagnosis test? Do not worry.. Try hard and you will achieve what you want

Books:

For SC: Read theory, do the problems at the end of each chapter and return to the theory if you get wrong.Other good material are SC Grail and our forum's resource : gmat-grammar-ultimate-by-gmat-club-102387.html

For CR: CR bible. The structure of the book is clear and its explanation helps me a lot. What books do you use?
RC: magazines is my choice and I think that their contexts are similar to those of GMAT.Try to get the main idea, the tone and the structure while reading.

Quant: OG + problems on our forum. Review the theory regularly as I see that you have some problems in quant....

what did you get on the SAT?

Another thing to think about is that timing is HUGE on the GMAT. If you ran out of time on all sections (esp. ir) it can really hurt your score.

Timing is the easiest problem to fix... reading comp and critical reasoning are a bit harder... with sc and math in the middle.

There are many people who once score even below 480 without preparation but managed to get the score they want. I scored 500 in the first prep test but after spending enough time on preparation ended up with 680 couple of days ago. Dont give up and start your journey with confidence that you will beat the GMAT.

Good luck.
