Hello Sachin,
Thank you so much for the reply. Yes verbal ditched me big time. I was not targetting any big shot B schools. But I wanted to have a decent score. But even though some schools take 610 they wont accept such a big mismatch in Quant and Verbal ...
So am back to ground zero... In verbal I fear from RC the most... Sc again confuses me sometimes..Will surely work on my verbal as suggested by you..Could you advice me books materials for VErbal??

Thank you once again for your valueable reply!!

I understand. I believe a 650-680 is very much achievable.
For RC, I would suggest you to go thru the free video lecture by e-gmat. Send a PM to bb, founder of gmatclub or any verbal forum moderator to help you find the link.. I am sure that is one of the best resources out here.

https://gmatprepnow.com/module/gmat-read ... prehension
Videos in the above link are also really good and they are free. :)

For SC, since I guess since you are running out of time, I would suggest SC course by e-gmat.
I haven't used this since I am already at a 80-90% accuracy level but lot of people have seen trmemndous improvement in a matter of 1 month.

Hope this helps :) If it does, press kudos :)

I am running short of time for TAS in-house application. I gotto take it again in another 40 days. .

I would suggest you not to book the exam till you see your dream score in mocks. Your GMAT score is directly proportional to the quality amount of time you put into the prep..

Hope this helps :) Press kudos if it does. :)

You should try and focus on your weaknesses
Test scores matter less than what you think
Can you share some detail about your verbal prep?

Thanks for the reply Souvik.
I prepared verbal mainly from OG 13 and Og verbal review 2nd edition. Apart from this I read some online guides on verbal too.
RC and SC are my weak areas.
Yes from the scores I got I can realize that mock scores doesnt matter much.
Any ideas on how to attack verbal? ( planning a retake)

Tiara, I asked you about your verbal prep and you came up with the practice questions that you did.
Dudette, you need to dive deep into verbal. Dont even look at the online guides. Unless your sources are good, your time will be efficiently wasted.
Trust good resources like Manhattan GMAT, Veritas or e-GMAT.
I think at your level, since you have covered some basics, I shall suggest that you check thursdays with Ron and check the e-GMAT trial vids
Thursdays with Ron currently has 80+ videos and are extremely useful for Quant and Verbal prep.

Souvik, I didnt follow any guide or grammer book apart from some e-gmat articles that I read online. Then I soved problems in OG and OG verbal and read the answer analysis.
Thank you for your valueable suggestions. Will surely start with the videos soon. am planning a retake after march 15th.

Tiara,

I completely understand what you mean. I have been there with Q 49 and V 28 and an overall score of 640. My second attempt was Q 47 and V 35 and overall 670. I got bogged down by studying verbal so much that I screwed my Quant score.

I don't know when is your exam but this is what I would suggest

- don't get bogged down by seeing high scores of others. Getting motivated is one thing but don't get discouraged. Not everyone is a university topper or has a GPA of 3.65 but you are!
- Having said that I know how it feels to get a low score. I have already secured admission in the college I wanted and that too with a scholarship but I am still giving one more try to GMAT just to see that 700 :)
- Specifically on verbal - Try to love it the way we love Quant. One way to do that would be is to enroll in E-gmat. I just love love and love the way they teach to us non natives especially Sentence Structure. I wish I had found E-gmat earlier and had more time for my prep. But nonetheless they are great.

Best of Luck and don't be discouraged.

I screwed up my GMAT with a 610 yesterday. I was confident through out the test and was hoping to touch 700. but got a big shock to see a 610 that too with Q 49 and verbal 25!!

I am still in that shock .. cant beleive that I got a 25 in verbal... Through out my mocks I never got a 25 in V... So i am not in my senses to think how it happened and what shoulfd be my next step...Shall I apply to any School? Shall I retake the exam?

My MGMAT scores were 580,590, 650,670 with Q45 in all and verbal > 30

My brief profile: Indian FEmale with 8+ years of Scientific research experience. and have a GPA of 3.9 . University topper (GM).

Will truly appreciate your help....

P.S: However, it's my opinion only as I get motivated by Kudos by the clubbers.... but I think Souvik is a self motivated guy....
