How cruel is it that I got an email today from Haas about their alumni network? Anyone else receive this?

that was brutal

I Got it too and while driving, almost freaked out when i opened that email... Someone in adcom must have loved sending that out to everyone :/

I think the logic is you are in and you are qualified for the scholarship. So you are in I guess haha. That's what people said here before.

Hm, wish I knew about that earlier. Guess I'm the guinea pig. Although, I don't think Haas would set up a honey-pot like this. The Harvard thing I just read about seemed like it was a legitimate oversight/bug that folks were able to exploit by generating a URL programatically.

I dont believe that. Did the schools call them up and say "hey you violated ethics" ...no sc hool will ever inofrm the students of the same. even if they, the schools, did so it would be a secret and not openly declared. I guess its just sour grapes

Plus nowhere is this an ethics violation since no code says so.

The only grey area is that those who logged in are able to see the scholarship questions ahead of time and can submit their application before those who don't log in until later. I suppose that could be considered an unfair advantage.

That being said, the questions themselves are commonly known anyways so it's not like you can't construct one ahead of time and submit it as soon as you receive the call.

Of course now you got me worried that I didn't get the email......

Dont worry about it, I got that email on two of my emails. I never used one of those emails to apply but used it once couple years back to register for info session. So it was a generic email sent to people interested in program.

Agreed. I don't think there is any correlation between getting the alumni email and getting admitted. Sure did make my stomach churn though...

Has any of the R3 and R4 applicants received a call from one of the current student?

I got an email from a current student asking me if I had any questions. This was post interview. I'm an R4 applicant.

I heard almost all admitted applicants were contacted by one of the current student sometime between their interviews and decision date. Is that right?

No, that is definitely not true. Some admits were contacted by a current student before decision date, but a lot were not.

I was an R2 admit and never received communication from a current student. Know several other folks for whom this was the case, too.

Hey all,

I'm also on the same boat waiting for the good news. I've got a stupid question. There is a conversation above about being able to login to the scholarship page is a sign of admission. Is the opposite also valid that if you can't login, is this a sign of a rejection?
