The Hogwarts Post has blogged extensively on not only major figures in technology innovation like Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, but also on the billion dollar ponzi schemes of various Wall Street con artists.

(A) on not only major figures in technology innovation like Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, but also on
(B) not only on such major figures in technology innovation as Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, but also on
(C) not only on major figures in technology innovation like Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, but also on
(D) on major figures in technology innovation like Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, as well as
(E) on major figures in technology innovation like Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos, but also on

I would be interested in knowing your views about correct usage of 'like' on GMAT. Why exactly is (A) incorrect?

Here goes my bit-

'like' is used to show 'similarity', whereas, 'such as' is used to introduce examples.

Option A has two problems:

1) "not only ... but also ... " construction is not parallel. 'on' is placed before 'not only'. The correct structure would be "not only on... but also on...".

2) Use of 'like' to introduce examples is imprecise.

Hope it helps! Happy Prepping! :-D

Like is never used to introduce examples.

All options but B have 'like' in them. Hence B is the answer.

I agree that B is the best choice, however there is logical parallelism flaw " Major Fig. in Tech. Inno." is being compared to " Billion Dollar Ponzi Scheme" in other words Person is being compared to Scheme.

We'll have to be a little careful here, as parallelism has very little to do with whether a sentence can include information about both people and things other than people.

Hi

I not choose B, because I thought for it to be proper usage of "such as" it would have to be "major figures such as as", not "such major figures as"...can you split up "such as" in this way?

Yes. This official question does the same thing.
