Hello Guys,

I received my TOEFL score today and below are my scores-

Reading - 30
Listening - 30
Speaking - 23 :oops:
Writing - 30.

Overall - 113.

I am really worried about my speaking score. Though all the schools I am applying to state 100+ to be the minimum requirement on TOEFL but I have heard or read somewhere that the schools have individual sectional cutoffs of 25. In that view should I re-take the exam?
The schools that I am applying to are UCLA Anderson, Ross, Cornell ( Johnson), Tepper and UNC Kenan Flagler.

Any suggestion or help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

The overall score is really good and 23 in speaking section is almost there.

Therefore, I would not be so concerned about.

I agree your overall score is pretty amazing, I don't see why they would refuse your application for a 23 in speaking (especially considering how many schools you apply to!)

Just call the school for confirmation. A lot of schools don't care a bit about individual scores. As long as you hit their overall minimum, they treat the TOEFL like a "pass/fail" and spend about five seconds looking at your result (and then never look at it again). Someone from the registar's office or the department you are applying to should be able to let you know.

Thanks a lot guys for the helpful suggestions. I inquired with most of the schools I am targeting to apply to and got to know that some of them such as UCLA Anderson ( though they do not mention it directly) are pretty stringent about their TOEFL criteria ( require minimum 24 in speaking section), so I went ahead and took the TOEFL again and ended up scoring a 115 with 26 on speaking. :) Thanks a lot once again for all the help!
