We need a hypothetical subjunctive verb "were' to describe an impossible phenomenon because Jimmy can never be MJ.
a) as he were Michael Jordan --- affirms that Jimmy is MJ -- wrong
b) as though he were Michael Jordan -- Correct hypothetical impossible phenomenon.
c) like he were Michael Jordan -- can't use like for a clause
d) as though he was like Michael Jordan -- the verb should be 'were'; It looks as if Jimmy is compared with MJ for physique rather than play.
e) as if he was like Michael Jordan- same problem as in D.

It seems that you confused hypothetical subjunctive and command subjunctive. This is a case of hypothetical subjunctive, so demand / request does not come into question.
Moreover hypothetical subjunctive takes the simple past tense, but command subjunctive takes the verb in its raw form.
If I played, we would win.... Hypothetical subjunctive.
I suggest that you play.... Command subjunctive.
