hi everybody,
this is my first post. so, first of all: i love this forum. it helped me a lot with the math section. it got me from 44 (worst case, happend once on my first trial before using this forum) to a steady 49-51. so, thanks to bunnel, to bb and to everybody else who made this project possible.
MY PROBLEM: Verbal section. i've never been really "good" at "verbal", but combined with "math", i score at best 720 (which is fine with the schools i plan to apply for), but it happens that i "only" score 630 (this is not really accepable
) i tried a lot. but i can't really count on my verbal "skills" - it more or less luck whether i score 630, 680 or 7xx.
these are my major problems (as far as i think):
- RC/CR somtimes lack of vocabulary
- TIME!!!
- GETTING NERVOUS BECAUSE I KNOW THAT DOING THE VERBAL IS LIKE ROLLING THE DICE
Please help to tackle the verbal monster. I did read a lot. bought books and everything. but i might have missed important strategies.

Hi,
Have you considered using one of the strategy guides written by forum members? If you haven't then I would suggest you have a look at Whiplash's SC and CR guide!

I think that you feel nervous because you are not sure about your ability, about the chance to get high score. This means that you need to practice more and more.
What materials have you used? If you are stuck at understanding verbal concepts, try Manhattan GMAT guide set, or try online courses: e-gmat, Veritas, Magoosh,...
I suggest that you register a free account of Veritas website, and practice free questions from their question bank. Their question bank contains a lot of questions, especially SC questions. You could take many as you want and remember every rule/concept.
RC/CR lack of vocabulary? There are no other ways but try to read as much as you can to build up your vocabulary.
It is said that GMAT doesn't test vocabulary but logic skill. However, in order to earn high score, we need to have a wide vocabulary.
It is also said that in some GMAT questions, even if we don't understand some words in those questions, we could still guess based on the context. This trick doesn't help much, however, if we dont have a wide vocabulary. Thus, trying to build up your vocabulary is the only way to solve your problem.
TIME: No one could help you arrange your time. You must do it by yourself.
