Hi Bobmarley123,

From your post, it's not clear whether you have taken the Official GMAT or not. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
4) Have you taken the Official GMAT yet (and if so, then how did you score?)?

Goals:
5) What is your goal score?
6) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
7) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
8) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Bobmarley123,

Since you're scheduled to take the GMAT on July 7th, you'll have to take the Exam in current order (Essay, IR, Quant, Verbal). If you push back your Test Date, then you can take advantage of the new option to take the sections in one of 3 different orders. As such, I'd like to know a bit more about how you took your practice CATs:

1) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
2) Did you take them at home?
3) Did you take them at the same time of day as when you plan to take your Official GMAT?
4) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
5) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE?

Hi Rich,

thank you for your advice. I have thought about postponing the exam to the 11th, but i feel like the longer im getting frustrated about scoring poorly in the verbal part, wont really help me :(

1) not each time. but ive done at least half of them including the Essay and IR sections
2) home plus library
3) not exactly same time of the day, but usually around 10-1030 am
4) yes, might have happend that i took 10 instead of 8 min break
5) i did the gmatprep (default package) more than once to check those strategies from bunnel... like first 10 correct, next 9 random, next 10 correct, rest random --> not really sure if that strategy works

hope you have enough info to help me :)

Hi tanvi9,

thanks for your comment.

my biggest problem is time!! in both sections.

i've been always "skilled" enough to solve most of the math problems, but not in time... im quiet fast with solving DS problems, but for the PS question it took/takes more than 2 min. so i spent a lot of time on getting faster by solving almost all of souviks question bank.

this strategies hasnt worked out as good for the verbal part. thats why im a bit frustrated.

how do you prepare for the verbal?

cheers // BM

Hi Bobmarley123,

Based on what you've described, you've been taking your CATs in an inconsistent fashion, so there's no way to know which (if any) of these scores is accurate. With a Test Date on July 7th or July 11th, you'll have no more than 2 weeks of additional study time, so you might want to consider pushing back your Test Date a bit further (so that you can better define your current 'ability level' and focus on the specific areas that you require improvement).

Hi, I have read sentence correction from manhattan guide once, I did quant after that, then Cr +rc together,
CR: i have done from powerscore(took a lot of time) and then tried og questions. till the time I didnt complete the whole book, my accuracy was low, but since completeion of that book, accuracy is going high on a daily basis, timing is a concern but it will take practice to master the timing in cr.

Rc -i have done from manhattan again, and trying to do 2 rc passages daily from aristotle/ og
Rc- my accuracy has always been ggod but timing is a concern here too.

SC- I just started again wih it, and I must add that foundations of verbal (manhattan ) has been a great great source for me to refresh the basics known but lacking application. I have also purchased egmat sc course only, as I am not in favour of spending too much on testprep companies( personal view),
now i will start with their sc, i have heard real good reviews about their sc course. I plan to take og after that.

If you find tis helpful, do give kudos! thanks
