The distance between (-1) to (5) on X-axis is 6.
The distance between (2) to (8) on Y-axis is 6.
So, the area is 6*6 = 36
The distance between (-1) to (5) on X-axis is 6.

As the question mentions that ABCD is a square, we only need to know any one side of the square.
The distance between A and B = 8 - 2 = 6
Hence, the area of the square = 6^2 = 36.
