MIM with 2.5 years work experience good idea?

Hi there,

I'll be having 2.5 years experience when I apply for B-schools. Will I be eligible for the MIM programs with so much work ex as usually the MIM applicants have 1 year to no work ex. Also at 24 I'll be falling in the higher average side.

Also,I won't be able to apply for MBA as most B-schools don't allow people to apply unless they have 3-4 years work ex. So I'm confused as to what my approach should be.

Can someone help me solve my dilemma, assuming I wish to join a B-school by 2019 under any circumstances.

I think you should be going for an MBA. Use your essays to show how you’re 2.5 years is better than other applicants with more experience than you. Good luck!

Hey Arunima,

Up to 2.5 work experience is fine for applying in MiM program. A general observation is that for international applicants work ex-varies from 1-2 years of work experience. Thinking that MiM programs allow only 0-1 of work experience is a myth.

24 age is an international norm in general.
For example, I was 24 when I applied and most of my colleagues are 24 years old.

For an MBA there is very little chance that good schools will accept you as you have little work ex-compared to the class avg. So definitely you can still target in MiM programs.
