A survey is done in am office among 120 people to know how many of them like their boss. 50 people not only like their boss but also admire him. If an employee is selected at random, is the probability that he neither likes his boss nor admires him less than 20%?
1. 10 employees do not like their boss
2. 80% of the employees admire their boss

SO 4 groups -
1) Only Like boss - L
2) Only admire boss - A
3) both - B
4) neither - N

L+A+B+N=120
B=50

IS N< 20% 0r 20*120/100 that is ' Is N < 24?"

1. 10 employees do not like their boss
so B+N=10 therefore \(\leq{10}\)
ans NO
suff

2. 80% of the employees admire their boss
so remaining 20 5 can be all who do not like also, that is L is sub set of A, then N=20%....YES
if even any one of remaining likes then N<20%
insuff

A
Sir,
i couldn't understand how it could be B+N =10, IMO it should be A+N =10

Thanks it was a typing error. Edited

Hi Chetan

Can you please explain the answer again. How have you used the 'not like' scenario to derive the answer.

Shldnt the answer be yes, the probability is less than 20% instead of No as written.

Hi guys , one query : can’t we do it like : probability of neither liking nor admiring =1- (50C1/120C1) as 50 people not only like but also admire the boss

Please suggest
