Statement 1 X is 3*60 mins = 180 mins . Hence Statement 1 is SUFFICIENT

Statement 2 This stament also implies that X is 3 hours long Hence is equal to 180 mins. But wait, we do not know which days's 11pm and 2am are being talked about here. So we cant really say it that simplySo, Statement 2 is NOT SUFFICIENT

Hence answer is A

These are really tricky ones , anyways .....my take :
1) Time frame is specified : 3hrs ==>180 mins : Sufficient
2) Time period X starts at 11 p.m. and ends at 2 a.m.
We may ask.... which 2 a.m. ? i.The immediate next of the stated 11 pm ? ==> 3 hrs ==>3*60 mins
or the one after the 1st 2am ? ==> 3 hrs ==>(3+24)*60 mins
or, the one after the 2nd 2am ? ==> 3 hrs ==>(3+48)*60 mins .......and so on...... : Not Sufficient
Hence Ans A.

Wow. I know the GMAT questions are tricky but, this seemed like a stretch here, idk maybe it's just me

So the problem I had with A is that we don't know how many minutes there were or am I overthinking here?
e.g. 3 hours and 35 minutes. How many hours? 3.
e.g. 3 hours and 45 minutes. How many hours? 3

We couldn't assume that 11-2 on statement 2 is consecutive days, so we can't assume in statement 1 that 3 hours means exactly 3 hours either? Unless of course one spins this and says 3 hours and 35 minutes for example is ACTUALLY 3 and 7/12 hours?
