I think it’s either D or B. But the answer C also seems correct for me. Taking into account that they believed that lice might live only on a healthy host. So, we suppose that they noticed that several times that lice leave their host before his illness or even death. Taking that into account and since they were not into science those times, Lice leaving host was a bad sign for them. Besides, they kept noticing this correlation over and over. So, they took it as a fact. Honestly, I’ve got confused with this question. I tried to check some facts online on https://novokid.com/blog/lice-facts/ but couldn’t find any evidence for that.
