Happy to help! As an Indian male, you're coming from the toughest demographic out there when it comes to b-school apps -- and it's one that tends to have very high GMAT scores. The good news is that you don't come from the typical technical/engineering background, so you can use that to set yourself apart -- and you've got a competitive GMAT score even among this demographic. The GMAT will also help convince them that you're up for the rigors of school (which is especially important given your non-traditional background). All that said, it will be critical to be ready to tell a strong story when it comes to your short term and long term goals. Especially since you don't come from a business background, you'll want to show that you have enough exposure to it to have credible career goals. Consulting, product management & finance are 3 very different goals. You'll want to narrow in on one path and be ready to speak to: 1) the specific title you want in the ST & LT & 2-3 target companies 2) the reasons WHY those are your targets & exactly what you plan to accomplish there 3) WHY this path is your passion -- of all the things you could do following b-school, why is this the path for you?

Your goals are also critical because they're an opportunity to differentiate yourself -- and the basis for your "why MBA"/"why xyz school" argument rests on your career goals. The skill gaps you name & the argument you make will be different if you pursue consulting vs. product mgmt vs. finance.

All this said, I think you do have the makings of a strong application once you finalize those goals.

If you need any help thinking through your strategy or your story definitely reach out to us! If you email Claudia at [email protected] she can set you up with a free consultation with one of our MBA consultants.
