IMO all the options are wrong
Employees in CS= 0.4*80=32
Employees in S= 0.5*80=40
Employees in D= 0.3*80=24
1. Number of employees that are part of both the sales and design departments, but not in customer care= 5
2. Number of employees are a part of both the customer care and design departments, but not in sales= x
3. Number of employees are a part of both the sales and customer care , but not in design=y
4. Number of employees that are part of all 3 departments= z
80=32+40+24-(5+x+y)-2z
80=96-5-x-y-2z
x+y+2z=11
We want to maximize x, hence we need to minimize y and z.
Minimum values y and z can take is 0
Maximum possible value of x=11

I think there is some thing wrong with numbers in the answer options .
company of 80 employees,
40% of the employees are in customer care = 80*40/100 =32 employees
, 50% are in sales = 40 employees,
and 30% are in design=80*30/100 = 24employees
In the question it self they gave maximum there are only 24 in design team . so any answer is always less than 24 in my
option which is not there in the option choice
Given in the question that 5 people are both part of sales and design team ,
so maximum left for CC team to join = (32+40_24 -80 )- only in ( employees both in sales and design team = 5)
= 16-5
= 11 employees
(32+40_24 -80 ) gives us the number of employees who in 2 teams ie.,16 are counted twice
