SUCH AS vs LIKE:
LIKE should never be used to introduce examples. So B & D are out.
Meaning Issue
The sentence means that Thomas eschewed popular styles and instead focused on other elements.
C & E distort the meaning by stating Focussed On Eschewing.
Therefore A is my choice for the correct answer.
