Hi guys,
Sometimes I enjoy trying to predict the future, and I wonder how rankings and general reputation of schools are going to evolve in the future.
Without any presumption, my idea is that:
- MIT Sloan is going to become one of the top 3 BS in the world. I believe it is mainly because the MIT reputation is growing and growing, and Sloan is strong in areas where many MBAs are trying to go (tech, entrepreneurship, etc.). Plus, MIT is very global and not linked to a specific geographical area (at least to a lesser extent than other schools).
- Columbia Business School is going to grow a lot in rankings, mostly because of the new campus, the increasing attractiveness of NYC and the somehow current low position in rankings of the school.
- HBS no doubt is still going to be at the top. But I believe that its reputation is going to slightly deteriorate over time.
- Stanford will remain in the top 3 but I see Stanford as very much linked to the Silicon Valley (although it is surely my misperception) and that Silicon Valley will slowly lose importance in the US and the world.
- I think that Booth and Wharton will drop in rankings. I think it is because their respective affiliate universities are super strong but do not have the worldwide brand that Harvard, Stanford or MIT have. I believe that business schools are going to be much more integrated into their affiliate universities.
- INSEAD is going to be consistently ranked in the top 3 (maybe 2). It has a strong reputation in every continent, and it seems to me that global exposure is becoming key to MBA programs.
- LBS is going to lose its reputation. It is very much related to the loss of importance of London and the UK due to Brexit.
- Chinese MBAs are going to become increasingly important, in particular Tsinghua.
Again, these are just my ideas. What do you think?
