Hi everyone,
I took the GMAT on 5/1, and now that my journey is ending (for the time being), I'd like to share my thoughts.
Books & materials used:
-TTP for quant
-For verbal I only studied by doing OG SC questions and watching SC youtube videos
Test Scores OG exam 2 2/8/20- 660- 45Q, 35V
OG exam 3 3 2/15/20- 710- 47Q, 40V
OG exam 4 2/23/20- 710- 46Q, 41V
In person exam 2/28/20- 690- 45Q, 39V, 8IR (Scores Cancelled)
OG exam 5 4/26/20- 770- 50Q, 47V
OG exam 6 4/28/20- 760- 49Q, 44V (using GMAT online whiteboard only)
GMAT Online 5/1/20- 710-48Q, 40V, 8IR
Background Info
Recent medical school graduate starting residency in June. Have not taken a math class since freshman year of college so I was very rusty on math. Original goal was a 700+ with 48Q+.
Length of study
About 4 months of on-and-off studying.
General strategy
Pretty much just going through TTP. My verbal improved naturally from doing practice tests and going over them. After I took the exam for the first time on 2/28 I took 2 weeks off and started back up by running through parts of TTP again and then doing all of the medium/hard OG questions up until test day.
Words of Advice
For Quant, the actual exam very closely mimics the questions seen in GMAT OG and the OG advanced quant review. I would highly recommend devoting time before your exam to completing all of those questions (medium + hard). Space it out so you can complete 40 q's/day leading up to the exam. Almost all of the questions on test day were spinoffs of OG questions.
Use GMATClub for more thoughtful explanations to questions than the OG book gives. Also searching for questions by topic on GMATclub is an awesome way to practice a particular topic.
VR has changed a bit since those practice tests were released. I think the most notable change to me seemed to be that the SC questions on the actual exam were more focused on sentence meaning than grammar rules. For native speakers, I'd recommend learning common errors in meaning rather than esoteric grammar rules.
Practice with the online whiteboard. The keyboard function is probably the most efficient way to use it. If you find that you don't feel too hampered by the online whiteboard you might as well give the online gmat a shot.
Things I wish I knew
I would have had a more targeted approach. TTP was a great resource for learning the fundamentals and helped me score points on some difficult questions because of its in-depth curriculum, however I don't think I would recommend completing every single chapter test- it's extremely time consuming and the questions are often very repetitive. I don't think it is the most efficient use of study time. I would definitely emphasize the OG questions in the time leading up to the exam. It is important to get practice with OG's wording and being able to approach questions without knowing what subject they are from.
Take some notes while going through TTP. There's a ton of material and writing down the stuff you think you will forget is super helpful.
Finally, your test experience
I had an 11am exam. I ran my trouble shoot and took pictures at 10:40am and sat at my seat waiting until about 10:45am when the exam automatically loaded up. Throughout the entire exam, I did not have any interaction with my proctor. Everything ran smoothly and there were no issues.
The quant section was very similar to the OG and practice test questions. I did not do as well as I thought I would have on this section. I must have made some early mistakes because the later questions were pretty easy.
The verbal section was somewhat similar to the actual exams with differences in SC, and some different takes on the logic questions. I did not budget time smartly and had to take educated guesses on the last 3 questions which I think really hurt me.
I received my score today at 12:30. I scored 710 48Q, 40V, 8IR. My goal originally was 700+ with 48Q+, but I am definitely disappointed that I scored so much lower than my last 2 practice exams. I think it was probably a combo of luck not being with me that day, and that I didn't budget time on verbal. I think that was probably the lower limit of my performance in both sections. I don't plan on retaking anytime soon, but I may give the in person test another shot sometime in the future.

Good luck to everyone on the journey! I know it's an uncertain time, but tough times don't last, tough people do. Persistence is a virtue on this exam. If you have any questions feel free to comment or PM me.
