Hi,
We strongly advise against reneging on your offer for early decision. It is unprofessional and unethical. Here is
Admissionado's advice:
1. What if we someone's accepted and they still do not pick that school for whatever reason?
It would have to be for truly extenuating circumstances, like an illness or a family emergency. To take a gap year or a deferral would not be considered acceptable.
2. I'm not sure if it's reality or fiction but I've heard stories about getting blacklisted from ALL the schools if you do not accept the early acceptance from 1 school.
It is definitely a possibility. You have to prepare for the personal and professional ramifications if you decide to go down that path.
3. Do we basically sacrifice our scholarship chances or the elbow room to negotiate if we fill up the early admission round? Because upon signing we're basically saying that whatever you offer us we'll take? Is that the case?
In some respects, yes, which is why applying early is not a requirement for admission. If scholarships are important to you, then you should opt for R1 and see what packages you receive.
