Resit GMAT Online or take in-person GMAT? - separate score reports

Question

Hey all,

I sat the GMAT online exam recently and scored a 740 but got a Q45 due to poor sleep the night before (I got Q50/51 on my last two practice tests and the lowest I ever scored was a Q47) which I'd like to be higher for PhD applications.

I know the in-person GMAT score reports are separate to the online reports (or is that wrong?) so if I sit an in-person exam and hopefully achieve a better quant score, is it correct that I'll be able to send that score without my first online score showing up? 
Presumably as well, if I sit another online GMAT and was to send my GMAT Online scores both would show up?

Hi and welcome to GMAT Club!

You are correct. Your in person score report will not reflect the gmat online score.

With gmat online you can choose which score to share so you can choose to share one or the other or both.

PS. Schools don’t really receive a report for gnat online . They just have access to your score in an online dashboard that they can verify.

Ohhh so if I do sit another Online exam I could just share the second score and they wouldn't see/know about the first score?

Correct. Here is a screenshot from the webinar GMAC conducted this week (on Wed I think). They did not say specifically so but it seems per the instructions and the screenshot that the scores could be shared/sent separately. P.S. Thanks for signing up for the MBA Spotlight!

Sounds good. It will be good to have a confirmation! Though since gmat online does not support cancelations, I am pretty sure they allow sharing separate scores from gmat online.

Sorry to re-open this thread and I am sure this is answered elsewhere and I just can't find it.

If you have taken in person and online tests, can you just choose to only report the online score should that be the one you are happiest with? i.e. schools would then have no idea that you even took the test in person?

Yep I believe so. With my two online tests that I've done now I can click on either one (or both) and send that one specifically so that is all that schools receive and see. I don't see how they would see your in person score so you should be all good.
